HK OCCUPY CENTRAL MOVEMENTCHINESE PUBLIC VOICE OPPOSITION AGAINST HK OCCUPY CENTRAL Chinese people from all walks of life have voiced their strong denunciation and opposition against the illegal gatherings of the Occupy Central movement in Hong Kong over these days. The Occupy Central movement has seriously affected the social order in Hong Kong and runs counter to the rule of law, said Beijing citizen Zhao Qing. “Organizers of the movement just holds the interests of all Hong Kong people as hostage for personal good of a handful of people, which is very despicable.” Prof. Chen Duanhong, from the Law School of the Peking University, said that the Occupy Central organizers, out of certain political purposes, are using the rhetoric such as “civil disobedience” as a disguise to instigate people to trample on the law. Victor Zhikai Gao, a director of China National Association for International Studies, told Xinhua that he believes that the current movement, including illegal blocking of traffic and serious disturbance to citizens daily life, is “obviously off limits to a peaceful and legitimate exercise of citizens rights.” In the past week parts of central Hong Kong were brought to a complete standstill as huge crowds in the tens of thousands gathered on the streets. The BBCs John Sudworth in Hong Kong says that although the number of protesters has fallen since the weekend, a hard-core group still remain and had bedded down on the barricades on Monday night. Several hundred remain in Mong Kok, north of the harbor, despite earlier calls by organisers for protesters to withdraw from that site, following clashes at the weekend with people opposed to the demonstrations. HK protests: Formal talks agreed as protests shrink The mass demonstrations have split opinion in Hong Kong, with many residents frustrated at the disruption caused by the protests. 59 prominent businessmen signed an open letter on the Occupy protests, saying: “Disrupting the social order of Hong Kong is not helpful to the development and discussion of the political reforms. Nor would it solve any problem.” As the protests entered their second week, crowds began to die down as civil servants returned to work on Monday.Pro-democracy activists are protesting at Chinas plans to vet candidates when Hong Kong holds elections in 2017.They are demanding that the central government in Beijing allow a fully free vote for the territorys leader. to cause something bad to happen; very unpleasant or evil; a person who is captured and held prisoner by a person or group; an act of criticizing somebody/something strongly in public; (formal, oftendisapproving) speech or writing that is intended to influence people, but that is not completely honest or sincere; making it difficult for something to continue in the normal way; tread or stomp heavily or roughly; an outward semblance that misrepresents the true nature of somethingJobsteacherdoctordriverbusinessmanpolicemansecretaryscientistbutcherName as many jobs as possible:?
