英语英语第39讲阅读理解Chip was in first grade when I arrived at his school as a counselor(辅导员). It was shocking to me that he was described as an angry, uncontrollable and evil (惹人厌的) boy. How could such a little boy, after being in school only one year, be considered “evil”? Over the next several months, I came to know Chip well enough to see that he was neither evil nor uncontrollable. But, one day, Chip threw a chair at his teacher and was sent to my office. I asked him what made him do this. He replied that his teacher hated him. He felt there was no way to ever get her to like him. I asked him if he would tell his teacher this. He nodded, and we called her into my office. When the teacher came_. He then said that he knew he was a very, very bad boy, and he didnt think anyone could ever like him. His teacher listened to him with heartfelt compassion. Then she gave him a big warm hug, telling him she didnt hate him at all and, actually, she cared very much about him. Only sometimes Chips behavior really scared her. It was clear to both Chip and me that she really meant it.I put my left arm on his shoulders and the right hand on his heart. I told him how wonderful and lovely I saw him to be. I praised how special and brave he was to express his hurt feelings. As I was speaking to him, his_whole_body_came_to_rest_on_my_right_hand_next_to_his_heart.It was a moment in time unlike anything I had experienced before. From then on, Im pleased to see his behavior improved through the rest of school years.A childs mind is clear and sensitive (敏感的). He receives whatever others say without protection. It is as easy to consider someone hopeless as it is to consider him able in his own special way.1The first paragraph mainly tells us _AChip was very popular at schoolBthe teacher didnt care about Chip at allCChip had no way to get others to like himDthe writer thought differently about Chip2Which of the following is the best sentence to fill in the blank in the passage?_Ashe couldnt control her feelingsBI advised her to be more patientCChip became angry and crazy againDI encouraged Chip to express his feelingsDD3The underlined sentence in Paragraph 5 shows that Chip _Aaccepted the writerBwanted a restCwas quite afraid Dfelt a little nervous4What can we learn from the passage?_ANo pains, no gains.BLove me, love my dog.CExpect higher, act better.DWhere there is a will, there is a way.AC中考英语“阅读理解”题主要是考查考生综合运用所学语言知识的能力。 1】 Arent mobile phones, email and voice mail supposed to help us communicate more easily? Sadly, thats not always the case. Take the other day for example, when I was walking through the park with my friend, suddenly his mobile phone rang and he answered itleaving me alone and cutting our conversation dead! In fact, the park was filled with people talking on their mobile phones. They were passing other people without even looking at them, or stopping to walk their dogs. Clearly, people preferred the mobile phone to human contact (联系)Why is it that the more connected we get, the more disconnected I feel? Development in communication technology seems to keep people from human contact. With email over the Internet, we can communicate without seeing or talking to one another. With voice mail, you can have conversations without even meeting that person. Even some food stores are using selfscanners (自助扫描仪) so that you can check yourself out.As the contact between human beings becomes automated (自助化的), my feeling of being disconnected gets stronger. Dont get me wrong. Im not against machines. I also own a mobile phone, a voice mail system, and an email account. Giving them up isnt a good idea, as they are useful to have around. Its just that when they keep us away from human contact, I begin to feel sad. More and more, I find myself answering email instead of talking to people. The technology that was made to help keep us in contact with each other is , in fact making me feel more lonely. What is to be done? Well, Ive made myself a plan to use less technology: no emailing people who live near me, and no letting the voice mail pick up when Im at home.1The example in Paragraph 1 shows that people now_.Acommunicate more easilyBdislike talking face to face at allCprefer talking on their mobile phonesDare only good at using mobile phones2The underlined word“disconnected”in Paragraph 2 probably means_.AlonelyBsatisfiedCstupidDinterested3It can be inferred (推断) from the passage that_.Athe writer is going to give up mobile phonesBmachines are now not useful to have aroundCmachines actually keep people closer to each otherDthe writer decides not to phone others a lot when with friends4Which is the best title of the passage?ATechnology and Human LifeBThe Importance of TechnologyCTechnology and Human ContactDThe Development of Technology【短文大意】本文讲的是科技和人际交往方面的问题。1C【解析】由第一段中的“Clearly, people preferred the voice on the mobile phone to human contact”可知答案为C。2A【解析】此处表示,我们联系得越密切,反而觉得越没有联系,即“反而觉得孤单”,故答案为A。3D【解析】通读最后一段,由其中的“Ive make myself a plan to use less technology.”可推断答案为D。4C【解析】通读全文可知,本文讲的是科技和人际交往方面的问题,故最佳标题是C项。 According to a recent study, there are about 70,000 blind children in Indonesia. Among them, 60 percent were not born blind. Iyehezkiel Parudani is one of them, who lost his eyesight by accident at age six. He now teaches English to blind students at the Pajajaran Special School. Iyehezkiel Parudani says learning English can help blind people feel better about themselves. “By learning English, they can be an English teacher, a translator, and a tour guide. ” Students read using Braille (盲文). To write, they use special tools, too. Iyehezkiel Parudani says blind people should not let their physical disability influence their dreams. In 2008,he got a chance to study at the University of Texas. Two years later, he got a masters degree in course development there.“In the US, if I go to the university to study, everything is availablelike ebooks, Braille books. Here in Indonesia, you know, its difficult to find a reference book in ebook or in Braille. We have to make it ourselves. In the US, I can move wherever I want because everything designed is really accessible for people with blindness.” Eha Lestari, one of his star students, says learning English has changed her life. She has already traveled to the US with the help of an IndonesiaU. S. program. “I study English because I love English very much. I want to be a translator because I want to go to the other countries and then I want to meet some people from around the world. ” Like her classmates, Eha loves to sing. Here, music is part of daily life. Even the students who do not study English can sing some American pop songs, such as Stand By Me, “Stand by me. Please stand, stand by me. Stand by me.” Iyehezkiel Parudani says the song has special meaning to the students. “In our life, we need other persons. You have to stand by me. Without you standing by me, Im meaningless.”1.
