More important, it is a period to,honour,and to pay respect to ones deceased ancestors and family members. Because it reinforces the ethic of filial piety, Qing Ming is a major Chinese festival.,Literally meaning “clear” (Qing) and “bright” (Ming), this Chinese festival falls in early spring, on the 106th day after the winter solstice.,(至日),It,is a spring festival, and it is an occasion for the whole family to leave the home and to sweep the graves of their forebears. Chinese being practical people this sweeping of the graves is given an extended period, that is, 10 days before and after Qing Ming day. Among some dialect groups a whole month is allocated.,China has a long history of ancestor worship, as early as in ancient times had the emperors, governors to sacrifice ceremony, temple of the spring and autumn period Confucius,MuJi, these all belong to noble peculiar. But,Jie,was later found beside a large tree, with his old mother on his back. Both were dead.,Saddened by the tragedy,(悲剧),Chonger,ordered that fires could not be lit on the day of,Jie,Zituis,death. From this comes,Hanshi,Day, or Cold Food,Its origin dates back to the Spring and Autumn Period,(周期),. Jin prince,Chonger,ran away from the country with his supporters due to persecution,(迫害),. They were homeless for 19 years and things got so bad that,Chonger,began to starve to death. One of the princes faithful followers,Jie,Zitui, cut a piece of muscle from his own leg and served it to his master.,Chonger,was saved and, in 636 BC, he took back the throne.,Tomb-sweeping day custom,A Time to Taste Tea,品茶,Qingming,Festival is also a time to enjoy a cup of tea, because the tea produced around,Qingming,Festival is said to be with high-quality.,Spring Outing,春游、踏青,It is a fine time to go out and to appreciate the beautiful scenes of nature during the festival. This custom can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty and followed by each dynasty later till today.,So visitors can be seen everywhere during the month of the festival.,Flying Kites,放风筝,What makes flying kites during this festival special is that people cut the string while the kite is in the sky to let it fly free. It is said this brings good luck and that diseases can be eliminated by doing this.,Planting Willow Trees,插柳,Because,Jie,Zitui,died embracing a willow tree, the willow is believed to have miraculous powers against evil. During the,Qingming,Festival, willow branches are hung on door fronts and used to sweep the tombs.,Swinging,荡秋千,The common swing has offered sport to many children throughout the world. During the Ming Dynasty, swinging was a designated recreation on the,Qingming,Festival, also known as the Clear and Bright Festival or the Tomb Sweeping Festival.
