So they tossed (掷) a coin. Albrecht Durer, the younger, _18_ the toss and went off to Nuremberg. Albert went down into the dangerous _19_ and, for the next four years, financed his brother, who did so well that his works were even better than those of most of his _20_. By the time he graduated, he was beginning to earn _21_ fees by drawing for wealthy people. When Albrecht returned home, at dinner he drank a _22_ to his beloved brother for the years of _23_ that had enabled him to fulfill his _24_. He said, “Albert, my blessed brother, now it is your _25_ to go to Nuremberg to pursue your dream, and I will take care of you.”With tears in his eyes, Albert held his hands close to his right cheek and said, “No, brother. Lately I have been suffering from arthritis (关节炎) so badly in my right hand that I cannot even hold a _28_ to return your toast, much less make delicate lines with a pen or a brush. No, brother, for me it is too _29_”Deeply moved, Albrecht painstakingly drew his brothers _30_ hands with palms together and thin fingers stretched skyward. He called his powerful drawing _31_ “Hands”, to which the entire world immediately opened their hearts and later they _32_ it “The Praying Hands”. The next time when you see a copy of that _33_ creation, take a second look. In the study, 30 minutes of walking three days per week was enough to drive down blood pressure and improve overall fitness in a group of healthy sedentary (久坐的) adults. For optimum(最佳的)health, adults are currently recommended to engage in 30 minutes of moderate(适度的)exercise for at least five days of the week. But few people achieve this level of weekly activity, often citing lack of time as the reason. Dr. Mark A. Tully, of the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, and his colleagues designed a study to see if exercising at a level lower than currently recommended would improve overall fitness and heart health. A total of 106 healthy but sedentary adults between the ages of 40 and 61 participated in the 12week study. The subjects were randomly (随机地) assigned a 30minute walk 3 days per week (44 subjects) or a 3minute walk 5 days per week (42 subjects), while the remainder did not change their lifestyle(the nonwalking control group). After 12 weeks, Tullys team found that blood pressure fell and waistlines and hiplines (臀围) reduced in size significantly in both the 3day walkers and 5day walkers. Overall fitness also increased in both walking groups. In contrast, no changes occurred in the nonwalking control group. The experts noted that the degree of positive change in blood pressure and waist and hip size seen in the 3day and 5day walkers is enough to make a difference to an individuals risk of heart disease. “These results may encourage people who feel they do not have time to exercise for 5 days each week to consider finding time to do a lower weekly target of exercise, ” Tully and his colleagues concluded. 36Whats the main purpose of the article?ATo encourage people to do some exercise, even at a low level. BTo encourage people to do as much exercise as possible. CTo remind sedentary adults to do some exercise. DTo tell people how to improve overall fitness. 37Why only few people can do 30minute exercise for five days of the week?AThey cant find the time. BThey will be too tired. CThey will have heart attacks. DThe level of the exercise is too high for them. 38Which of the following is NOT true about the study?AThe participants are all healthy but sedentary adults. BThe participants are all over 40 years old. CThe participants do a 30minute walk 3 days a week and a 3minute walk 5 days a week in every two weeks. DBoth the 3day walkers and 5day walkers improved their health conditions. 39What can we infer from the fifth and sixth paragraphs?AWalking can drive down blood pressure. BEven a low level of exercise in a week can improve ones heart health. CWalking can improve ones heart health. DWalking can make a difference to peoples heart. 40The text mainly tells us _.
