At first, this illness looked as if it were flu. The problem was that nobody knew its cause or cure. _ Authorities(权威机构) said chlamydia(衣原体病菌) was the cause of SARS. But Zhong had his own opinion. He thought it might be one cause of death, but not the only cause of SARS. There must be something else causing the disease._ In order to find other causes, he began his enquiry. He gathered information about those people who were ill and died. _ Find a problemMake a questionThink of a method He worked very hard and refused to hide the facts. Patients always had a high temperature headaches and often developed a dry cough and pneumonia(肺炎). When doctors and nurses touched the patients kissed or hugged them, came close to them or touched items used by the patients, they were at risk._ It was easy to fall ill with it because it was spread through air, water and close contact with patients. _ Collect resultsAnalyse the results It was highly infectious so that dirty plates in restaurants, dirty toilets or food that was not clean passed on the disease. When people were infected, they could spread the disease by coughing or sneezing(打喷嚏). _ Finding supporting evidence On the 12th April 2003, he was successful in finding the cause of SARS. It was certain that the air, water and close contact with patients were to blame. He said the best way to prevent the spread of SARS was to keep away from the places where there was an outbreak and avoid contacting with people who might be infected. People could also reduce the risk of infection by washing hands often with soap. Because of his good work, SARS did not return to China in 2004. _ Draw a conclusion Homework: 1.
