REACHThe European REACH Regulation 1907/2006 on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) entered into force on June 1, 2007 and affects all companies producing, importing, using, or placing products on the European market. The aim of the REACH regulation is to ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment from chemical substances.REACH legislation obligates article manufacturers and importers to communicate about chemical content: “substances of very high concern, SVHCs” that are present in articles in a concentration greater than 0.1% of the total weight of the article. This requirement must be met by Leoni as a manufacturer and importer of articles. The European Chemical Agency publishes a list of substances of very high concern (SVHC) which is updated regularly:List of SVHCs on March 2010Substance identificationNoEnglish nameCAS numberNoEnglish nameCAS number1Anthracene 120-12-715Anthracene oil90640-80-524,4- Diaminodiphenylmethane 101-77-916Anthracene oil, anthracene paste, distn. lights91995-17-43Dibutyl phthalate84-74-217Anthracene oil, anthracene paste, anthracene fraction91995-15-24Diarsenic pentaoxide 1303-28-218Anthracene oil, anthracene-low90640-82-75Diarsenic trioxide 1327-53-319Anthracene oil, anthracene paste90640-81-66Sodium dichromate, dihydrate 7789-12-010588-01-920Pitch, coal tar, high temp.65996-93-275-tert-butyl-2,4,6-trinitro-m-xylene (musk xylene) 81-15-221Acrylamide79-06-18Bis (2-ethyl(hexyl)phthalate) (DOP/ DEHP) 117-81-7222,4-Dinitrotoluene121-14-29Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD) 25637-99-4 3194-55-6 (134237-50-6) (134237-51-7) (134237-52-8) 23Diisobutyl phthalate84-69-510Alkanes, C10-13, chloro (Short Chain Chlorinated Paraffins) 85535-84-824Lead chromate7758-97-611Bis(tributyltin)oxide 56-35-925Lead chromate molybdatesulphate red (C.I. Thresholds mentioned do not only represent legal limits, but also refer to currently accepted analysing thresholds and Leoni customers s requirements . Leoni decided all SVHCs as defined in REACH are banned substances for products purchased by Leoni. In case , components and / or materials are exceeding the Leoni tresholds , the supplier declares the actual maximum content in the banned substances declaration table in annex . Otherwise , the Supplier warrants that all its packaging, components and/or Products supplied under this Agreement or any Purchase Order will not contain higher levels of the restricted substances than those listed Information on banned substances must be declared on component level (e.g. plated terminal : check the brass of the terminal as well as the plating for presence of banned substances). For polymers & rubber components only ; As softners and flame retardants are more and more questioned in the world on their impact towards the environment and human health , it is necessary to know which softners and / or flame retardants are used in the products we purchase . We depend on you as a supplier of Leoni to give us , for us , this critical information . The used softners & flame retardants in all products Leoni buys are to be listed in the annex “ softners and flame retardants declaration table” below . If a product we buy is containing none of the two items , we expect to list it as well stating “ NA” standing for not applicable. Any change on the content of materials ,components and products has to be subjected to Leoni s change control procedure . No change can be made prior to Leoni s acceptance.Return completed to:Your Leoni contact personSupplier name & stamp: Fill in suppliers name warrants that all its packing, components and/or products supplied to the Leoni group and/or its affiliated companies or designated contractors will not contain the banned substances, as mentioned in the appendix to this Declaration, in quantity levels higher than the thresholds referred to in the same appendix to this Declaration.
