New Concept English 2Lesson One A Private Conversation,Questions on the text: Where did the writer go last week? Why he didnt enjoy the play? What did the young man say to the writer?,Answers to the three questions: 1, He went to the theatre. 2, Because he could not hear the actors. A young man and a young woman behind him was talking loudly. 3, He said its none of your business, its a private conversation.,Language points: Last week I went to the theatre. go to the theatre(去看戏) the: 表示去某一场所的特定活动。 go to the cinema/show(去看电影/表演) go to the bank/post office(去银行/邮局),I did not enjoy it(the play). I did not enjoy the meal(book). 这顿饭我吃得并不好! 这本书并没有给我带来多大乐趣!,I got very angry.我很愤怒。(变得) The food is getting cold. 吃的东西变凉了。,I could not hear the actors. 我听不见演员说话。 Do you hear me? 你听见我的话了吗? He is not listening to me. 他没有听我说话。 听见某人说,在英文里用(hear sb) 强调听的动作,用listen,I looked at the young man and young woman angrily. 我怒视着那一男一女。 Look at : 看谁,强调看的动作。 Did you see Sam yesterday? See:看见, 昨天你看见Sam了吗? She is watching TV. 她正在看电视。 Watch:观看,They did not pay any attention (to me). 他们丝毫也没有理会我。 Please pay attention to that picture on that wall. 请注意墙上那幅画。 pay attention:后面如果要跟宾语的话,要用介词to.,In the end, I could not bear it. (it 指前面的情形) 最后我实在是无法容忍了。 In the end= at last(最后) Bear= stand(忍受),Key structures and usage: 一般过去时 I had a very good seat. The play was very interesting. They did not pay any attention. I could not hear the actors.,过去进行时: be动词的过去式+现在分词。 A young man and a young woman were sitting behind me. They were talking loudly.,The content: The young man misunderstood what the writer said to him. He thought the writer was eavesdropping. But any way, bad manners like talking loudly in public were not approved.,Lesson Eleven One good Turn Deserves Another Three questions on the text: 1,What does tony Steele always borrow from his friends? 2,what did Tony do when the writer asked him to lend 20? 3,what did tony ask the writer to do?,Answers to questions: 1, He always borrow money from his friends, but he never pays it back. 2, to the writers surprise, Tony give the writer money immidiately. 3, He asked the writer to pay for his dinner.,Language points: One good turn deserves another. Deserve: to be worth of (值得,应该得到) His suggestion deserves our attention. 他的建议应该引起我们的注意。 You deserve this prize. 这份奖你是应得的。,He gets a good salary. Salary:指按月发的薪水,领取薪水者通常是经过培训而具有特殊技能或专门知识的人。 He collects his salary at the end of each month. 每个月的月末他领工资。 wages一般指按星期甚至按天发的工资,领取工资者通常是做体力劳动的人。 His wages are $250 a week. 他一周的薪水是250美元。,He always borrows money from his friends and never pays it back! 他总是向他的朋友借钱,但从来不还。 Payback: 归还,把钱还回去。 Pay back the money,如果用it替换money, It 要放在pay back 的中间。 So now you can pay for my dinner. 现在你可以替我付饭钱了。 pay不及物动词,为什么付账,,It is ones duty to pay taxes. When:连词,在这个时候。通常放在句子的中间,连接两个分句。 Tony saw me and came and sat at the same table. and:连词,连接动词,表示一连串动作的发生。,He has never borrowed money from me. Money:指钱的概念。 I have never borrowed any money from you. any money:加上any,指一定数量的钱。 I asked him to lend me twenty pounds. To my surprise, he gave me the money immediately. the money :指前面提到的钱。,Few words on the topic: One good turn deserves another, good turn means tony Steele lend money to the writer, the writer knows that tony has a bad reputation, and he wants to embarrass tony, only to find himself the fool.
