Unit 4 Astronomy the science of the stars .阅读理解AAlthough we may not admit it,many of us like to stay in our comfort zones. This is especially true for celebrities. After they have gotten famous for doing something well, many of them prefer to stay where they are.But Selena Gomez,26,doesnt believe in staying where she is.When many teenagers of her age were busy at school,Gomez had already established herself as a sweet young actress in TV series produced by the Disney Channel. But that was just where her ambitions started. As The New York Times noted,“While some child stars would have stopped trying to improve their careers after a few movies and hit songs,Gomez has always kept her eggs in a few different baskets.”Her album Revival, which came out on Oct 9,2014,is her first album outside of the Disney-owned Hollywood Records. She was also the executive producer for the album, taking on more creative control and writing six songs on her own.On Dec.11,Gomez received the Chart Topper award for her successful album at Billboards yearly Women in Music event.Indeed, the title of the album,Revival, showed that she is no longer part of Disney. In fact,Gomez left the company to step outside her comfort zone.“I wanted to be my own person.I wanted to test myself,”she told Elle magazine. As it turns out,she hasnt just done well in singing and acting.Gomez was also one of three executive producers working to make the best-selling young adult novel 13 Reasons Why into a TV series.Gomez also has a production company,a perfume brand and four films. No,its not easy to succeed as a former child star. But right now,Gomez is making it look easy.【语篇导读】本文是一篇人物传记。文章讲述了女演员Selena Gomez不满足于现状,努力突破,追寻自我的故事。1.Which is TRUE according to the text?A.Many celebrities like to stay in their makes us feel more powerful, crossing your arms makes you more determined and lying down can bring more insights (领悟).So if moving the body can have these effects, what about the clothes we wear? Were all well aware of how dressing up in different ways can make us feel more attractive, sporty or professional, depending on the clothes we wear, but can the clothes actually change cognitive (认知的) performance or is it just a feeling?Adam and Galinsky tested the effect of simply wearing a white lab coat on peoples powers of attention. The idea is that white coats are associated with scientists, who are in turn thought to have close attention to detail. What they found was that people wearing white coats performed better than those who werent.Indeed, they made only half as many errors as those wearing their own clothes on the Stroop Test (one way of measuring attention). The researchers call the effect “enclothed cognition,” suggesting that all manner of different clothes probably affect our cognition in many different ways. This opens the way for all sorts of clothes-based experiments. Is the writer who wears a fedora more creative? Is the psychologist wearing little round glasses and smoking a cigar more insightful?Does a chefs hat make the restaurant food taste better? From now on I will only be editing articles for PsyBlog while wearing a white coat to help keep the typing error count low.Hopefully you will be doing your part by reading PsyBlog in a cap and gown (学位服).【语篇导读】本文是一篇说明文。肢体语言会影响我们的思维方式,那么着装会影响我们的认知表现吗?答案是肯定的,研究表明身穿实验室白大褂的人在相关实验中有着更好的表现。5.What is
