专题限时集训(四)推理判断之推测隐含信息A(2018南宁二中、柳州高中两校联考)Every year at this time, the peasants began their long religious journey to Geed-leh,to visit the church there, and to pray for Gods help. They walked or rode in wagons;they crowded the roads leading to the holy town, for Geed-leh was famous in Poland as a place where God did miracles. The cool autumn days also brought many beggars to Geed-leh.The peasants gave away more of their money on such a religious holiday as this. Some of the beggars were blind;some had no feet or arms. Some were very old and seemed like lost children looking for their mothers. There was one among them who was called “the Mute Singer”He was given this name because he could not speak. There was a time when he was able to sing, while playing his guitar. But he lost his voice. Now he played the guitar and sang, but no sounds came from his throat. His lips just moved with the music. The Mute Singer was a tall,strange-looking man.His face and hands were brown. He had white hair and a white beard:he looked like one of the wise men you read about in the Bible.Early one morning I saw the Mute Singer washing himself at the river. He smiled and touched the ground with his hand, meaning that I should sit down. Then,he pointed his finger straight up,to tell me that he had a surprise for me.Suddenly,he put his hand into the water and rubbed two of his fingers together, making a strange sound, exactly like the sound of a frog.He did it many times, and then he lightly hit the top of the water, sending little waves across the water to the other side.Suddenly, everything around us seemed to be moving.I could not believe that it was real.Thousands of frogs came racing toward us,jumping, and swimming.under the water and on top of the water.I began to shake with excitement. The frogs crowded around us.I could see their heads and eyes showing above the top of the water.【语篇解读】本文是一篇记叙文,讲述了每年农民们去往朝圣的路上都会遇到一些乞丐,并重点讲述了其中的一位“沉默的歌者”。这位歌者虽然失声,却不丧气,用自己的方式演绎着别样的音乐人生。1Which of the following are likely to become obese adults, putting them at risk of serious health problems, say experts.Researchers believe wide availability of cheap, fattening food is one of the main drivers.Although child obesity rates appear to be stabilizing in many high-income European countries, including the UK,they are accelerating at an alarming rate in many other parts of the world. The largest increase in the number of obese children has been in East Asia.China and India have seen rates “balloon” in recent years.Polynesia and Micronesia have the highest rate of all around half of the young population in these countries is overweight or obese. The researchers say that if current world trends continue,“obese” will soon be more common than “underweight”“We have not become more weak-willed,lazy or greedy. The reality is that the world around us is changing.” Dr.Fiona Bull from the World Health Organization suggested tough measures to prevent “calorie-rich,nutrient-poor food” and encourage more physical activity.“But so far, just over 20 countries around the world have introduced a tax on sugary drinks,” she said.Dr. Alison Tedstone, chief nutritionist (营养学家)at Public Health England, said,“Our sugar reduction programme and the governments sugar tax are world-leading,but this is just the beginning of a long journey to meet the challenge of a generation. The evidence is clear that just telling fear to move on.This is because they have failed a few times in their lives. Please step out and dont let the past hold you back from living life to the fullest.Move forward and move on! In studying the psychology of taking risks,we find that human nature provides us with the desire to experiment and take chances.Risk-taking is a great advantage that allowed our ancestors to become stronger and stronger day by day.By taking risks they fought off enemies and discovered new territories. This attitude has become a part of our modern culture.Riding a roller coaster is a common risk-taking activity. Each person seems to enjoy the risk although they have the understanding that it is dangerous. This psychological and biological connection creates an interesting connection between what is unsafe and what humans enjoy.Getting in a car each day is a risk.Getting out of bed is a risk, too. We need to take risks so that we can complete many things.Astronauts take risks when they get inside a spacecraft;however, the things they achieve are great.Businessmen take risks when they buy parts of a company;however, without doing that, they could not make more money. We need to take risks so that we can gain something. It is impossible to move forward in life, earn money, enjoy a relationship, play a sport,or do anything else without taking risks. It is all part of the game. Its one of the most important parts of life.【语篇解读】本文是一篇议论文,通过介绍生活中充满冒险,告诉人们:没有冒险就没有收获。9Some people dont want to take risks, mainly because .Athey are too lazy to move onBthey feel pleased with the present lifeCthey have failed several times beforeDthey show little interest in the strange world outsideC考查细节理解。根据第二段第二句“This is because they have failed a few times in their lives”可知,一些人不想去冒险主要是因为他们曾经失败过几次。10What does the underlined part “This attitude” in Paragraph 3 mean?ATaking risks.BFighting off enemies.CDiscovering new territories.DBecoming stronger and stronger.A考查词义猜测。根据第三段中的“Risk-taking is a great advantage that allowed our ancestors to become stronger and stronger day by day.By taking risks they fought off enemies and discovered new territories”可知,冒险使得我们的祖先变得越来越强壮,使得他们能够击退敌人,发现新领地。画线部分所在句意为“这种态度已经成为我们现代文化的一部分”,由此可知,画线部分指的是冒险。11What can we infer from the passage?ADaily life is full of risks.BThe safest place has the greatest risk.CPeople should take risks when they are young.DWe can always achieve our goals by taking risks.A考查推理判断。根据第四段“Getting in a car each day is a risk.Getting out of bed is a risk, too.Businessmen take risks when they buy parts of a company;however, without doing that, they could not make more money”可知,生活中充满了风险。12What would be the title for the passage?ATaking Risks Is Easier Said than DoneBRisks Taken by AncestorsCLive Our Life to the FullestDNo Risk,No GainD考查标题归纳。文章第一段提到当我们想要达到某个目标时,冒险对我们是有利的;又根据最后一段第一句“We need to take risks so that we can gain something”可知,本文的主旨是没有冒险就没有收获。5
